TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) - North Carolina hopes a deep run in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament will solidify a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tourney.

The eighth-ranked Tar Heels look to continue their ACC run Saturday when they face Boston College in the semifinals.

After losing three of its last six games to end the regular season, North Carolina dominated Florida State in the ACC quarterfinals, 73-58.

All-conference center Tyler Hansbrough scored just six points in his first game playing with a face mask after suffering a broken nose in UNC's regular-season finale against Duke.

Boston College needed overtime to defeat 12th-seeded Miami, 74-71, in its quarterfinal game. Conference Player of the Year Jared Dudley was held to just 12 points on 3-of-9 shooting.

The Tar Heels pulled out a tough 77-72 win in the only meeting between the teams this year in Chestnut Hill. Hansbrough scored 17 points and pulled down seven boards as North Carolina outrebounded the Eagles, 33-25.

The winner will play either North Carolina State or Virginia Tech in the final.
