Mississippi State routs Bradley, advances to NIT quarterfinals

Mar 17, 2007 - 7:23 PM STARKVILLE, Mississippi (Ticker) -- Jamont Gordon scored 20 points to lead Mississippi State to a 101-72 rout of Bradley in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament.

Gordon shot 7-of-12 from the floor and made a trio of 3-pointers to pace five players in double figures. He also dished out 10 assists and grabbed six rebounds.

Charles Rhodes scored 17 points and had six blocks while Reginald Delk chipped in 15 points for the Bulldogs (20-13), who will face second-seeded Florida State in Tuesday's quarterfinals.

Mississippi State also received solid contributions from Dietric Slater and reserve Barry Stewart, who scored 13 points apiece. Jarvis Varnado grabbed 12 rebounds off the bench for the Bulldogs, who owned a 51-32 advantage on the glass.

Leading by six at halftime, Mississippi State erupted after the break to pull away. The Bulldogs shot 65 percent (22-of-34) from the floor and made 5-of-9 attempts from the arc over the final 20 minutes.

Will Franklin scored 15 points to pace Bradley (22-13), which shot just 37 percent (26-of-71).
