McCamey, Illinois pound Toledo

Nov 11, 2010 - 4:07 AM Champaign, IL (Sports Network) - Demetri McCamey connected on 3-of-4 three- point attempts en route to 13 points and dished out seven assists, as 13th- ranked Illinois cruised to an 84-45 win over Toledo in the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.

Mike Davis totaled 12 points and six rebounds for the Fighting Illini (2-0), who opened the season with a 79-65 victory over UC Irvine on Monday. Mike Tisdale and Meyers Leonard both scored 10 points.

Delino Dear had 11 points to pace the Rockets (0-1), who lost in Tod Kowalczyk's debut as head coach. Kowalczyk joined Toledo after an eight-year tenure patrolling the sidelines at UW-Green Bay. He took over a program that amassed just four wins last season.

The Rockets have lost 33 straight road contests.

In a game they never trailed, the Fighting Illini jumped out to a 13-3 lead and extended their advantage to 25-5 on McCamey's shot from beyond the arc. Illinois led 47-18 at the break and continued to distance itself in the second half.

Game Notes

Wednesday's game marked the 2,500th game in Fighting Illini men's basketball history...Toledo hasn't won on the road since beating Central Michigan on March 9, 2008...The Rockets have lost their last seven games against nationally-ranked opponents.
