Temple rolls over Toledo

Nov 15, 2010 - 7:51 AM Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Micheal Eric led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points and nine rebounds as 22nd-ranked Temple cruised to an 82-49 victory over Toledo at Liacouras Center.

Lavoy Allen and Ramone Moore each posted 12 points and Scootie Randall added 11 for the Owls (2-0), who topped Seton Hall on Friday in their season-opener.

Juan Fernandez poured in 10 points and dished out five assists for Temple, the reigning Atlantic-10 champions.

"When you are playing a team that is out-manned, you want the intensity to remain where it is," said Temple head coach Fran Dunphy. "I thought after the first couple of minutes, we understood what our jobs were."

Zack Leahy recorded a game-high 15 points for the Rockets (0-2), who look to post their first win of the year on Friday by hosting Illinois-Chicago. Malcolm Griffin had 11 points and Anthony Wright scored 10 off the bench.

Temple rolled out to a 17-6 edge in the first 6 1/2 minutes thanks to a Moore trey.

The lead grew to 31-13 with 4:48 left in the half as Rahlir Jefferson made a runner in the lane, then ended up 40-16 at the break on a driving layup from Moore.

Eric's easy deuce at the 2:20 mark of the second half put Temple ahead 47-18, then the 30-point barrier was breached with 12:24 remaining on a Fernandez lay-in for a 55-25 game.

Aaron Brown finished off a three-point play with 4:53 to go and the Owls led 75-38, then took their foot off the gas for the remainder of the contest.
