Dunn makes season debut, leads Baylor past Lipscomb

Nov 23, 2010 - 4:26 AM Waco, TX (Sports Network) - LaceDarius Dunn scored 24 points in his season debut as the 12th-ranked Baylor Bears held off Lipscomb, 72-60, at Ferrell Center.

Dunn, who was suspended for the first three games because of domestic dispute charges, made 7-of-11 three pointers and had five rebounds and four assists.

"It meant a lot," Dunn said about being back. "Like I just told some of my teammates, the suit felt good but the jersey feels a whole lot better. It's good to get back out there with my teammates and my family and just out there having fun. It meant a lot to get back out there with those guys. Fortunately I was able to practice, but it's nothing like being in a live game on the court. It's awesome to be back. I thank the fans for supporting me."

Quincy Acy had 18 points and a career-high 14 rebounds for Baylor (4-0), which has made light of its first four opponents with double-digit victories.

Jordan Burgason had 15 points and Adnan Hodzic added 13 points and nine boards for Lipscomb (2-2), which suffered its first loss since its season opener against North Carolina.

"Not taking anything away from Baylor. I told our team they are a very good basketball team," Lipscomb head coach Scott Sanderson said. "I didn't think we played very well tonight. We had some shots, some open shots, especially in the first half that we normally make that we didn't, and I am sure their length had a lot to with it. I didn't think we played particularly well, not taking anything away from them, because they are a very good team, especially Dunn, obviously."

Baylor scored the first 11 of the game's 14 points, which included two Dunn three-pointers. The lead was extended to 10 when Fred Ellis hit a jumper with 13:21 left to play in the half.

The Bison kept the game close when Justin Glenn nailed a jump shot to make the score 17-14, but the Bears went on a scoring spurt to build their lead to as much as 10, 33-23, with two minutes left in the opening half.

Holding a 35-28 halftime lead, Baylor went on a 12-2 run the first 2 1/2 minutes that was capped off with Dunn's seventh three-pointer of the game.

The Bears grew their lead to 20 four different times in the final nine minutes, while Lipscomb never really threatened with a comeback run.
