No. 10 Kentucky routs Terriers

Dec 1, 2010 - 3:31 AM Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Brandon Knight tallied 23 points, six rebounds and six assists to lead 10th-ranked Kentucky in a 91-57 rout of Boston University at Rupp Arena.

Terrence Jones added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (5-1), who were coming off their first loss to Connecticut in the Maui Invitational. Doron Lamb and Josh Harrellson contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Harrellson pulled down 11 rebounds.

John Holland scored 20 points for the Terriers (4-4), who have not beaten a ranked opponent since the 1959 NCAA Tournament. Matt Griffin added 13 points, and Darryl Partin had 11 in defeat.

Kentucky held a 21-12 lead nine minutes into the contest, but Boston University scored seven of the next nine points to climb to within four on a jumper by Partin.

The rest of the half remained competitive, and the Wildcats took a seven-point lead, 40-33, into the locker room.

Kentucky, though, came out on fire in the second half. It opened with a 12-0 run to assume a 19-point lead, with the last five of those points from Knight.

"I'm just trying to grow as an individual, but the main thing is the team playing well, and I thought the second half we were able to pick it up and play well and try to play as unselfish as possible," Knight said.

Lamb capped a 10-0 burst later in the half with a three-pointer for a 68-38 lead with 12:55 to go.

"That must have been one heck of a halftime speech," said Boston University head coach Patrick Chambers. "I'm going to have to ask (Kentucky head coach John Calipari) for a copy of that. We played pretty hard for 20 minutes...We were hoping to just hang and hang as long as we could."

After allowing 28 of the second half's first 33 points, the Terriers' deficit was too much to make up. The Wildcats cruised to the finish line from there.
