Kansas routs Miami-Ohio

Jan 3, 2011 - 4:04 AM Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Markieff Morris scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, leading third-ranked Kansas to an 83-56 win over Miami-Ohio.

Morris went 9-of-11 from the field, and his twin brother Marcus Morris added 18 points for Kansas (13-0), which has posted three straight double-digit victories since a 70-68 win over USC on December 18.

Josh Selby also had 18 points for the Jayhawks, who outrebounded the RedHawks, 46-17.

"We had a beat-down on the glass, which is the best that we have rebounded the ball," said Kansas head coach Bill Self. "I think a big key to that is that we had guys running towards the ball. We just seemed like a much more aggressive team today."

Orlando Williams scored 11 points to lead Miami-Ohio (5-9), which fell to 0-6 in true road games and has lost its last four overall. Allen Roberts contributed 10 points in defeat.

The RedHawks' only lead came at 3-2 before Kansas used a 10-2 run to take control.

Brady Morningstar's jumper with 13:10 left in the first half had the Jayhawks ahead, 12-5, and the lead reached double-digits at 17-7 when Marcus Morris drilled a jumper just inside of 11 minutes to play.

Kansas turned the game into a rout soon thereafter, with a 14-0 run that ended on Selby's three for a 33-11 difference with 5 1/2 minutes left. It was 47-21 at halftime.

"I was very disappointed with our effort in the first half," said Miami-Ohio head coach Charlie Coles. "I didn't think we gave much of an effort. I don't think Kansas really got going until about nine minutes to go in the first half. It seemed like after that we backed off."

The Jayhawks maintained about a 25-point lead for the entire second half.
