No. 20 Texas A&M routs Southern

Nov 14, 2011 - 12:26 AM College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Ray Turner led all scorers with 20 points as the No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies rolled to an 83-58 victory over the Southern University Jaguars.

Turner also had eight rebounds, while David Loubeau and Elston Turner each scored 11 points for the Aggies (2-0), who have now won 62 straight non- conference games at Reed Arena.

"I just try to do my best by running the floor, being there for my teammates, getting myself and my teammates open," Ray Turner said.

Kourtney Roberson added 12 points off the bench for Texas A&M.

Derick Beltran was the only member of Southern (1-1) to score in double digits with 19 points.

Back-to-back field goals by Ray Turner and Elston Turner after a pair of Southern turnovers gave the Aggies a 6-0 lead a little more than two minutes into the first half, and Texas A&M never looked back.

The lead stretched to 15 within the first 10 minutes when Roberson capped a 13-2 run with a layup, and the Aggies' lead later extended to 25 as they walked into the intermission with a 46-21 advantage.

The second half was more competitive with each team scoring 37 point apiece, but it was too little too late for the Jaguars, who were coming off a 67-48 win over Dillard University on Friday.

"We were outmanned most of the night," Southern head coach Roman Banks said. "We had no answer for their bodies on the inside."
