Wisconsin thumps Kangaroos

Nov 23, 2011 - 4:32 AM Madison, WI (Sports Network) - Jared Berggren had 21 points to lead 11th- ranked Wisconsin to a 77-31 win over UMKC at the Chicago Invitational Challenge.

Ben Brust added 12 points and six rebounds while Mike Bruesewitz donated 10 points and six rebounds for the Badgers (4-0), who have won all of their games this year by at least 27 points.

"I think we're doing alright, just trying to get better everyday," said Bruesewitz. "We're coming together as a team. We're sharing the ball really well, and we're playing really good team basketball."

Reggie Chamberlain and Trinity Hall each had seven points for the Kangaroos (1-4), who have dropped their past two games.

"Tonight we didn't shoot well, and I think that had a lot to do with their defense," said UMKC head coach Matt Brown. "But, it makes it very hard when they have five guys on the floor that can shoot it consistently."

A 13-0 run from the Badgers over the middle portion of the first half staked the team to a 21-8 lead on a Josh Gasser three-pointer.

Wisconsin later scored 11 unanswered points with Bruesewitz's three-ball giving the team a 41-16 lead with 2 1/2 minutes to play in the first half.

Another 9-0 run in the second half saw Jordan Taylor cap the burst with a layup for a 54-21 lead four minutes in and Wisconsin continued to build its lead from there.
