Stephen F. Austin names Underwood new men's hoops coach

Austin has named Brad Underwood its new men's basketball coach.Underwood has spent 27 seasons in the coaching profession, including the past two as an associate head coach under Frank Martin -- first at Kansas State and then at South Carolina.
"Brad Underwood brings years of experience to SFA and has coached at the highest levels of Division I basketball," said SFA athletic director Robert Hill. "All of this plus his knowledge of the game and ability to recruit makes him the perfect hire for our men's basketball program. He has great plans on how we can make this program even better."
Before joining the Kansas State staff in 2006, Underwood was the head coach at Daytona Beach Community College. He guided the Falcons to a record of 70-24 in three seasons and was twice selected as the Mid-Florida Conference's top coach.
Underwood, also a Division I assistant for 10 years at Western Illinois, replaces Danny Kaspar, who left SFA after 13 seasons to take the head coaching position at Texas State.
