South Dakota names James interim coach
Sep 7, 2013 - 4:26 AM Vermillion, SD (Sports Network) - The University of South Dakota named Joey James its interim head men's basketball coach on Friday. The news came after Dave Boots announced his retirement after 25 years at the helm. James has been an assistant at South Dakota for 10 seasons and turns 37 next Tuesday.
"David Boots' resignation this close to the beginning of the season makes an extensive national search an impossibility," said South Dakota athletics director David Herbster. "After carefully considering our options, I have decided to appoint assistant coach Joey James interim head coach. At the conclusion of the season, a national search for the position will be conducted."
James played for the Coyotes for two seasons from 1997-99.
