Dower Jr's big night leads Gonzaga past Bryant

Nov 10, 2013 - 7:07 AM Spokane, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Sam Dower Jr. posted 21 points and 17 rebounds as the No. 15 Gonzaga Bulldogs defeated the Bryant Bulldogs, 100-76.

"That was the best I've seen him rebound," Gonzaga head coach Mark Few said of Dower.

Gerard Coleman had 15 points, while Kevin Pangos and Gary Bell Jr. each gave 14 points for Gonzaga (1-0), which went 32-3 last season, but lost in the third round of the NCAA Tournament to Wichita State.

Dyami Starks had a game-high 35 points for Bryant (0-1), which finished the 2012-13 season with a mark of 19-12.

"We don't have the size Gonzaga has," Bryant head coach Tim O'Shea said.

Gonzaga led this game start to finish as the team scored the first seven points of the contest and held a 14-6 lead off a Przemek Karnowski slam 5 1/2 minutes in.

Gonzaga used a 10-2 run later in the first half and closed the half with the final five points to take a 49-28 lead into the break.

Bryant scored the first two points of the second half, but that was as close as it got as Dower followed with a layup and Bell's 3-pointer gave Gonzaga a 24-point lead.

Gonzaga led by no less than 22 points the rest of the way.
