Pangos leads No. 13 Gonzaga past Wazzu

Nov 22, 2013 - 5:04 AM Spokane, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Pangos scored a game-high 27 points, Drew Barham had 17 off the bench and No. 13 Gonzaga beat Washington State 90-74 on Thursday night.

Gary Bell Jr. and Przemek Karnowski both added 12 points and David Stockton scored nine with nine assists for the Bulldogs (4-0), who will travel to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational, which begins on Monday.

Stockton got the scoring started early with a three-point play on the opening possession of the game. D.J. Shelton then hit a 3-pointer to tie the game, but Gonzaga responded with an 8-0 run and never trailed.

Ike Iroegbu paced Washington State (2-1) with 20 points off the bench, DaVonte Lacy netted 14 and Shelton scored 10.

Royce Woolridge's layup pulled Washington State to within eight with less than eight minutes left in the opening frame, but that is as close as the Cougars would get.

After two Pangos free throws, Bell added a 3-pointer, followed by a 3 from Pangos which was part of a 9-2 run that extended the lead to 41-26 with five minutes to play.

Gonzaga pushed the lead to 49-33 at the break and led by as many as 24 late in the second half.

Gonzaga shot 13-for-23 (56.5 percent) on 3-pointers ... Gonzaga assisted on 20 baskets compared to 13 for Washington State ... Washington State hosts TCU on Sunday.
