Oklahoma State has easy time with USF

Nov 26, 2013 - 3:19 AM Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Markel Brown and Marcus Smart scored 25 points apiece to lead the Oklahoma State Cowboys to a 93-67 victory over the South Florida Bulls.

Brown also had eight rebounds and seven assists, while Le'Bryan Nash scored 15 and grabbed six boards for the Cowboys (5-0), who will travel to Orlando for the Old Spice Classic to play Purdue Thursday.

John Egbunu scored 15 points and eight rebounds, while Victor Rudd scored 14 for South Florida, which will finish its week at home against Detroit on Saturday.

The game was within 2 points until a 12-2 run created an 8-point lead for the Cowboys with 11:40 left in the first half.

Phil Forte's 3-pointer with 9:27 left began a 9-2 run, with last six points coming from Smart, which brought the score to 33-21 with 6:34 remaining in the first half.

The Bulls had issues with the Oklahoma State's zone defense but managed to come within five points with 4:48 left in the first half.

Oklahoma State took complete control the rest of the half and finished with a 16-5 run, highlighted by a buzzer-beating half court shot by Smart, which gave him 23 points for the half and made the lead 51-35 Cowboys.

The Bulls came out of the locker room with more energy than they ended the half with, but Oklahoma State kept pace and didn't lose a step, as the score was 61-44 with 16:04 left to play.

The Cowboys did not relinquish a lead of less than 15 points for the remainder of the game and took the victory with ease as they won by 26.

Oklahoma State has started 5-0 for the second straight season ... Forte was 3- for-5 from beyond the arc and had 11 points for the Cowboys ... Oklahoma State shot 56.3 percent and South Florida only landed 27.8 percent from beyond the arc ... The Cowboys were 33-for-66 from the field while South Florida went 23- for-59.
