Gonzaga cruises past Coppin State

Dec 2, 2013 - 3:49 AM Spokane, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Gary Bell, Jr. made four 3s and scored 15 points as No. 11 Gonzaga eased to an 86-51 win over Coppin State on Sunday.

Gerard Coleman had 14 points and Kyle Dranginis scored 12, both off the bench for the Bulldogs (7-1), who went 12-for-26 on 3-pointers and shot 50 percent in their first game back from the Maui Invitational.

Gonzaga went 2-1 in Hawaii last week, taking fifth place in the tournament with wins over Chaminade and Arkansas after an opening loss to Dayton.

Arnold Fripp and Sterling Smith both scored 10 points to lead Coppin State (2-4), which was coming off a 42-point loss to No. 22 Michigan on Friday.

Gonzaga guard Kevin Pangos had nine points after pouring in a career-high 34 with eight 3-pointers in Wednesday's win over Arkansas, but the Bulldogs didn't need any more from him.

He knocked down their first 3 to open the game, sparking an 11-4 run. The Bulldogs stretched their lead to 25 points at halftime, 39-14, and led by as many as 40 in the second half.

It was the first-ever meeting between the teams ... Gonzaga hosts New Mexico State on Saturday ... Coppin State is at Delaware State on Saturday.
