Payne named Mississippi Valley men's basketball coach
Jul 11, 2014 - 5:32 PM Itta Bena, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Andre Payne has been named the new men's basketball coach at Mississippi Valley State.Payne spent the past eight years as head coach and associate athletic director at Wiley College in Texas. The NAIA program had a record of 146-104 under Payne, including a 25-7 mark last season.
In Payne's first season of 2006-07, the Wildcats reached the NAIA Tournament for the first time in 37 years. They also qualified for the tourney in 2014.
Payne also spent time as head coach at Texas College. He owns a career record of 239-183, ranking 24th in career wins among active NAIA coaches.
