No. 3 Wisconsin trounces Chattanooga

Nov 16, 2014 - 10:48 PM Madison, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Sam Dekker had 18 points, Traevon Jackson scored 16 and third-ranked Wisconsin cruised to an 89-45 win over Chattanooga in opening-round action of the Battle 4 Atlantis on Sunday.

Frank Kaminsky matched Nigel Hayes with 15 points and added 10 boards and four assists. Hayes totaled 13 boards.

Josh Gasser was the lone Wisconsin starter not to reach double figures in points as he finished with nine.

"When you have four other guys on the court that are just as unselfish as you are it makes it a lot more fun and much more balanced and hard to stop," Dekker said.

The Badgers (2-0) began the season by beating Northern Kentucky 62-31 on Friday.

Ronrico White paced Chattanooga (1-1) with 15 points off the bench.

"We are a team that relies a lot on offensive rebounding, and obviously you don't get a lot of those when you play Wisconsin," said Chattanooga head coach Will Wade. "We only got one shot every time down the court, and we weren't very efficient with those shots."

The Badgers raced out to a 20-4 lead against the Mocs, who posted a 57-point win over Hiwassee in their season opener on Friday.

Hayes supplied the final 10 points during Wisconsin's game-opening run and finished with a double-double in the first half.

Dekker scored eight straight points to extend the lead to 44-18, and the Badgers went into halftime up 52-21 after shooting nearly 60 percent.

Wisconsin's lead didn't dip below 30 points in the second half.

Game Notes

The Badgers made 8-of-18 3-pointers and had a 49-21 rebounding advantage ... Chattanooga was limited to 32.1 percent shooting ... Casey Jones led Mocs' starters with 12 points.
