No. 14 Utah tops South Dakota State

Dec 24, 2014 - 5:38 AM Salt Lake City, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Brekkott Chapman had 22 points, Delon Wright scored 17 and No. 14 Utah beat South Dakota State 80-66 on Tuesday.

Dakarai Tucker added 11 points for the Utes (9-2), who have won two in a row since falling to No. 10 Kansas two Saturdays ago.

Cody Larson scored 13 points and Reed Tellinghuisen chipped in 12 to lead the Jackrabbits (9-4), who had a seven-game winning streak snapped.

Utah trailed only once, after Larson's jumper gave South Dakota State a 10-9 lead 6 1/2 minutes into the game.

The Utes didn't pull away until a 15-2 run later in the half pushed their lead to 17 points. Chapman scored eight during the furry, including back-to-back 3s.

Utah's lead remained 17 at halftime and the Jackrabbits didn't get any closer until an 11-0 run at the end of the game.

"Our guys looked gassed from the start," South Dakota State coach Scott Nagy said, according to the team's official website. "We just didn't have much to us tonight, and there aren't any excuses for it."

The Utes shot 51.7 percent from the field and led by as many as 26 points in the second half.
