Northern Iowa downs Missouri State

Jan 18, 2015 - 11:12 PM Cedar Falls, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Seth Tuttle had 22 points and 10 rebounds as No. 23 Northern Iowa rolled to a 60-46 victory over Missouri State on Sunday.

Deon Mitchell had 11 points and Marvin Singleton added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Panthers (16-2, 5-1 MVC), who have won their past five.

Austin Ruder scored 13 points and Dorrian Williams added 11 points and five assists for the Bears (8-10, 2-4), who have lost their last four games.

Northern Iowa never trailed in this game and held a 15-5 lead nine minutes in on a jumper from Tuttle. Missouri State followed with a brief run to get within seven after Williams hit a jumper with 4 1/2 minutes to play in the first half.

Tuttle, though, countered with four straight buckets to stretch the Panthers' lead back to 15, and the team eventually took a 32-20 lead into the locker room.

The Bears were unable to cut into their deficit in the second half, as the closest they got was eight back after Ruder hit a pair of free throws 4 1/2 minutes in to make it a 37-29 game.

Tuttle and Wyatt Lohaus followed with a pair of buckets, and Northern Iowa's lead stayed in double-digits the rest of the way.

Northern Iowa hosts Indiana State on Wednesday ... Lohaus finished the game with seven points ... The Panthers have won five straight against the Bears, but trail in the series, 40-28.
