Wisconsin dominates Northwestern

Feb 8, 2015 - 2:34 AM Madison, WI ( - Sam Dekker scored 16 points with seven rebounds to guide No. 5 Wisconsin to a 65-50 victory over Northwestern on Saturday.

Bronson Koenig also had 16 points while Frank Kaminsky added 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Badgers (21-2, 9-1 Big Ten), who have won six straight.

"I feel like I've been a lot more confident in the last couple of weeks," said Koenig. "My teammates have done a good job of giving me that confidence and my coaches as well."

Alex Olah had 15 points and Bryant McIntosh added 13 for the Wildcats (10-13, 1-9), who have dropped their last nine games.

"Congratulations to Wisconsin. They're as good as a team we've played all year," said Northwestern head coach Chris Collins. "I say this all the time, when I'm not competing against them, I love watching them play."

Wisconsin led this game from start to finish and built a 16-2 advantage seven minutes in after Koenig hit a 3-pointer.

The Badgers led by as many as 17 in the first half before the Wildcats used a 9-0 burst to get back into the game as a McIntosh jumper cut the deficit to 25-17 with four minutes to play.

Wisconsin, though, scored the next seven points and eventually took a 37-21 lead into the break.

Koenig hit a pair of 3-pointers to start the second half and build the Badgers' lead to 22.

Northwestern never got closer than 11 the rest of the way.
