Chattanooga selects McCall as new men's hoops coach
Apr 13, 2015 - 3:30 AM Chattanooga, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - The University of Tennessee-Chattanooga has named Florida assistant Matt McCall as its new head men's basketball coach.McCall, 33, was an assistant at Florida Atlantic from 2008-11 before joining Billy Donovan's staff at Florida. In his fourth seasons there, the Gators reached at least the Elite Eight three times and the Final Four in 2014.
"Matt has done a tremendous job for the University of Florida and he will deeply be missed," Donovan said. "I knew it would take a special situation for Matt to leave, and without question, Chattanooga is a great opportunity. The Mocs are getting a great coach and an even better person. Matt will do a tremendous job."
McCall will replace Will Wade, who took the open position at VCU. Chattanooga went 40-25 in Wade's two years at the helm.
