VMI introduces Earl as new men's hoops coach
Apr 13, 2015 - 6:08 PM Lexington, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Virginia Military Institute introduced Dan Earl as its new men's basketball coach on Monday.Earl spent the past four seasons as an assistant at Navy.
"It is truly an honor to be selected as head basketball coach at VMI," said Earl. "I look forward to working with the team and to doing our part to teach young men on the court the great values that reflect the mission of the Virginia Military Institute."
Earl played collegiately at Penn State in the mid-1990s and professionally overseas and in the CBA, then spent six years as an assistant with the Nittany Lions from 2006-11 before moving on to Navy.
VMI needed a new head coach after Duggar Baucom resigned in late March to accept the same position at the Citadel.
Baucom amassed a 151-159 record in 10 seasons at VMI and led the Keydets to their first postseason appearance in 37 years when the program reached the semifinals of the 2014 CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
