Third-ranked Memphis hosts Tennessee-Martin in season opener

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Coach John Calipari and Memphis looks to get their season off to a positive start.

The third-ranked Tigers will welcome in Tennessee-Martin in their season opener of Monday's 2K College Hoops Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.

Entering his eighth campaign at Memphis, Calipari has all five starters returning from last year's team that went 33-4 and did not lose a league game en route to winning the Conference USA regular-season and tournament crowns.

Chris Douglas-Roberts and Jeremy Hunt, who combined to average 29.5 points, are looking to build off last season for the Tigers, who have the nation's longest home winning streak at 32 games.

The Tigers may be without senior Joey Dorsey, who could miss his first collegiate outing after suffering a right shoulder sprain on October 27 during a scrimmage. He is listed as doubtful.

Gerald Robinson returns as the lone starter for the Skyhawk, who went 8-23 last season as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference.

Tennessee-Martin is guided by coach Bret Campbell, who is in his ninth season at the helm and will have to count heavily on 11 newcomers this season.

Memphis leads the all-time series at 10-3 and holds a 99-63 mark against Ohio Valley teams. The winner of this one will face either Maine or Richmond on Tuesday in the next round.
