Without Heytvelt, Gonzaga looks to go 2-0

Nov 13, 2007 - 2:37 PM Idaho (1-0) at No. 14 Gonzaga (1-0) 8:00 pm EST

SPOKANE, Washington (Ticker) - No. 14 Gonzaga will look to go 2-0 on Tuesday - again without forward Josh Heytvelt - when the Bulldogs take on Idaho.

Heytvelt, who missed the final nine games of last season after being arrested on drug possession, will miss four to six weeks after undergoing surgery on his foot on Monday.

The 6-11 junior Heytvelt, averaged 15.5 points and a team-leading 7.7 rebounds last season.

Gonzaga hopes that freshman Austin Daye can step up in his place as he did in Sunday's 77-54 victory over Montana when he posted 20 points and 10 rebounds.

In 27 minutes, Daye shot 8-of-13 off the bench - including 2-of-2 from the arc - while adding two blocks and two steals

Jeremy Pargo had 17 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Bulldogs, who have won their first two games each of the last three seasons.

Idaho went 4-27 in 2006-07 but is coming off a 110-52 win over Cascade College in its opener on Friday. Trevor Morris led the way with 25 points for the Vandals.
