EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) - After an embarrassing loss in the preseason, the Michigan State Spartans started the regular season off on the right foot.

No. 12 Michigan State will look to continue its momentum when they take on Louisiana-Monroe in the East Lansing Regional Final of the CBE Classic on Wednesday.

The Spartans lost to Division II Grand Valley State during the exhibition season on November 2, but pulled away for an easy 86-53 victory over Chicago State in the first round of the CBE Classic on Tuesday.

Sophomore forward Raymar Morgan had career highs of 25 points and 15 rebounds, while Drew Neitzel added 12 points.

Michigan State returns all five starters from last season's team and its season-opening win was the 30th in the school's last 31 openers.

Louisiana-Monroe (1-1) advanced with a 60-53 victory over Northern Michigan also on Tuesday. The Warhawks were led by Lance Brasher, who had 15 points in the contest.

The winner of Wednesday's game advances to the tournament's final four, which will be held November 19-20 in Kansas City, Missouri.
