Beilein, Michigan visit fifth-ranked Georgetown

Nov 15, 2007 - 2:55 PM Michigan (2-0) at No. 5 Georgetown (1-0) 7:30 pm EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Fifth-ranked Georgetown will see a familiar face on the opposing sideline, although it will be facing an unfamiliar foe.

First-year Michigan coach John Beilein - who coached at Big East Conference rival West Virginia for the past five seasons - will take the Wolverines to the Verizon Center to take on the Hoyas on Thursday.

Beilein, who inked a six-year deal reportedly worth $8 million with the Wolverines last April, has guided Michigan to a pair of wins over Radford and Brown to open the season.

But the Wolverines figure to have a harder time with the Hoyas, who went 4-3 against West Virginia when Beilein coached in Morgantown.

Georgetown, which return four starters from last season's Final Four team, defeated William & Mary, 68-50, in its season opener Saturday.

Senior preseason All-American center Roy Hibbert had 23 points and eight rebounds while junior guard Jessie Sapp had 18 points and six assists.

Thursday's contest marks the second time these schools have ever faced. The Hoyas posted a 67-51 victory over the Wolverines last December 30.
