Williams, Louisville welcome in winless Jackson State

Nov 18, 2007 - 2:13 PM Jackson St (0-3) at No. 6 Louisville (1-0) 1:30 pm EST

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) - Sixth-ranked Louisville aims to repeat its previous performance when it meets Jackson State in the Las Vegas Invitational on Sunday.

In the Cardinals' season opener, Terrence Williams registered the third triple-double in school history with 14 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds in Saturday's 104-69 triumph over Hartford.

Williams' performance was a long time coming as he struggled to find consistent numbers during his two seasons in coach Rick Pitino's offensive scheme.

Louisville guard Andre McGee also showed Pitino he could be another threat, pouring in 15 of his 18 points in the opening half. The 5-10 McGee averaged just 2.6 points last season as a sophomore.

"It was one of those days were it was like throwing a rock in the ocean," McGee said. "Guys were giving me good passes and I was just stepping in and trying to knock them down."

Jackson State will try bounce back after getting thrashed, 100-61, at the hands of Brigham Young on Friday. Freshman Chris Hyche led the Tigers with 12 points off the bench.

If the Tigers are to have a chance in this one they better receive more offensive power from the 1-2 duo of Jeremy Caldwell and Grant Maxey.
