Arkansas faces Virginia Commonwealth in Puerto Rico
Nov 18, 2007 - 2:41 PM Va Commonwealth (2-1) at No. 18 Arkansas (2-1) 5:00 pm ESTSAN JUAN (Ticker) - No. 18 Arkansas faces Virginia Commonwealth for third place in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off on Sunday.
After opening the tournament with an impressive win over the College of Charleston, Arkansas endured a 67-51 loss to Providence on Friday.
Against the Friars, the Razorbacks were extremely sloppy as they committed an astounding 32 turnovers. Sonny Weems, Gary Ervin and Charles Thomas all had six turnovers.
"The consistency level is not there," first-year Arkansas coach John Pelphrey said. "It takes all the fun out of the game if you don't have a respect for it, handling the basketball."
Virginia Commonwealth was unable to build on narrow win over Houston as it suffered a 69-63 loss to Miami on Friday. Point guard Eric Maynor scored 27 points to lead the way against the Hurricanes.
