CLEMSON, South Carolina (Ticker) -- Clemson is in the rankings this early in the season for the first time nine years and it will look to remain there when it hosts Presbyterian on Wednesday.

The Tigers have opened the season strong, capturing victories in each of their first three games, including a tough 84-82 win at Mississippi State last Thursday.

Defense has led the way for Clemson, with the team forcing over 26 turnovers per game, including 37 in a season-opening victory over Furman on November 12. The Tigers own a plus-10.67 turnover ratio in the season's early going.

The Tigers were 18-1 last year against non-conference teams, and are 3-0 so far this season.

Senior forward James Mays is leading the team with 16 points and nine rebounds per contest. K.C. Rivers ranks second in the school at 14.7 points per game and has connected on 57.1 percent of his 3-point attempts (8-of-14).

Presbyterian is playing its first season at the Division I level, and has played five games in the last seven days, dropping them all.

The Blue Hose are led by senior Pat Kiscaden, who averages 15.6 points per game off the bench and is shooting 63 percent from the floor this season.

Clemson holds a 50-17-2 advantage in the series, which dates to the 1915-16 season. The two schools have not met since the 1982-83 season.
