KALAMAZOO, Michigan (Ticker) -- Despite suffering a tough loss to the country's top team, Davidson finds itself in the national rankings for the first time in 37 years.

The 25th-ranked Wildcats debut as a ranked team Wednesday when they visit Western Michigan.

Davidson led top-ranked North Carolina by as many as seven in the first half last Wednesday before falling, 72-68.

Sophomore Stephen Curry led Davidson with 24 points in the setback and is averaging 25.5 points over the Wildcats' first two games this season.

Senior guard Jason Richards sets the pace for Davidson's offensive attack, ranking second in the nation with 9.0 assists per game.

The Broncos enter Wednesday's contest coming off a 60-59 victory at Detroit on Monday.

The first and only time these two schools met came last season, when Davidson forced 26 turnovers and made 28-of-33 free throws to defeat Western Michigan, 71-64, on December 30.
