First-ever 4-0 start on the line for George Mason vs. Kansas State

Nov 22, 2007 - 2:36 PM George Mason (3-0) vs. No. 20 Kansas St (3-0) 9:00 pm EST

ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) - George Mason has never started the season with four consecutive wins. The Patriots will be hard-pressed to accomplish that feat on Thursday, facing 20th-ranked and unbeaten Kansas State in the Old Spice Classic.

George Mason is off to the perfect start, despite shooting 35.8 percent from the field. The Patriots have survived on the combination of rebounding, especially on the offensive end, and by getting to the free-throw line almost three times as often as their opponents.

George Mason is 57-of-75 from the line, compared to just 21-of-30 for its opposition. The Patriots are coming off a 21-of-21 performance from the line in their last game, a 67-56 victory over Dayton.

Forward Michael Beasley has been virtually unstoppable for the Wildcats. The 6-foot-10, 235-pound freshman is averaging 30 points and 20 rebounds. Senior guard Blake Young (13.0), freshman forward Bill Walker (12.5) and freshman guard Jacob Pullen (11.0) are also averaging double figures for Kansas State.

The two teams are meeting for the first time. The winner advances to a second-round game on Friday against the Villanova-Central Florida winner.
