Nov 22, 2007 - 2:38 PM Western Kentucky (3-0) vs. No. 14 Gonzaga (3-0) 11:30 pm EST

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Ticker) - Western Kentucky heads to Alaska for the first time, facing No. 14 Gonzaga on Thursday in the opening round of the Great Alaska Shootout.

Thursday's game will be the first of five games for the Hilltoppers against teams that participated in the NCAA tournament.

Senior guard Courtney Lee leads Western Kentucky in scoring at 24 points per game. Senior guard Tyrone Brazelton is the only other Hilltopper averaging double figures at 16 ppg. Western Kentucky has defeated its first three opponents by an average of 26.7 points per game.

The Bulldogs hit the road for the first time after posting easy victories over Montana, Idaho and UC-Riverside. It is Gonzaga's third trip to Alaska in the last 11 years and the Bulldogs' second appearance in the Great Alaska Shootout.

In 2001, Gonzaga lost to Marquette and Dwyane Wade in the championship game.

Freshman Austin Daye has yet to start a game for the Bulldogs, but that hasn't stopped the 6-foot-10 forward from leading the team in scoring (18 points) and blocked shots (3.7).

It is the first meeting between the two teams. The winner faces to a second-round game on Friday against the winner of the Texas Tech-Alaska-Anchorage winner.
