Syracuse, Washington looking to rebound after loss

Nov 23, 2007 - 2:30 PM Washington (3-1) at No. 21 Syracuse (3-1) 4:30 pm EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Donte Greene and Syracuse look to leave New York with at least one win.

The 21st-ranked Orange aim to bounce back from their first loss of the season when they square off with Washington in Friday's consolation round of the NIT Season Tip-off at Madison Square Garden.

After returning to the Top 25 for the first time since last December, Syracuse may not stay long after suffering a 79-65 loss to Ohio State Wednesday's semifinals.

The Orange had their worst shooting performance of the season, hitting just 26.2 percent of their shots and going just 5-for-25 from 3-point range.

Greene scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss, continuing to assert himself as one of the top freshman in the country. Greene is averaging 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds through his first four games.

Washington also is looking to rebound from a loss after falling to Texas A&M, 77-63, in its last game Wednesday.

The Huskies were sloppy during the loss, committing 17 turnovers and failing to score more than 80 points for the first time this season.

Jon Brockman was the one bright spot in the setback, logging his second double-double of the season with 21 points and 15 rebounds. The junior is averaging 22.5 points and 12.5 rebounds this season.
