George Mason looks for second straight upset against Villanova

Nov 23, 2007 - 2:41 PM No. 19 Villanova (3-0) at George Mason (4-0) 5:00 pm EST

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Florida (Ticker) -- George Mason is back to its old tricks - upsetting big-name opponents.

The Patriots aim to oust their second ranked foe in as many days when they take on No. 19 Villanova in Friday's semifinals of the Old Spice Classic.

George Mason thrust itself into the national spotlight in 2006 when it shockingly advanced to the Final Four, knocking off North Carolina, Connecticut and Michigan State along the way.

Thanks to a solid team effort Thursday, the Patriots upset another ranked team with their 87-77 triumph over No. 20 Kansas State.

John Vaughan scored 21 points while Folarin Campbell and Will Thomas each added 18 points for the Patriots, who opened a season 4-0 for the first time in school history.

A day later, George Mason will have to contain Villanova's Scottie Reynolds, last season's Big East Conference Freshman of the Year.

Reynolds scored 19 points Thursday, leading the Wildcats to a 76-68 victory over Central Florida.
