Michigan State attempts to bounce back against Oakland

EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) -- Oakland will have a lot to overcome on Saturday when it heads to No. 11 Michigan State for a non-conference game.

The Golden Grizzlies are 0-6 all-time against the Spartans, including an 0-5 mark on the road. Oakland has come no closer than 17 points in losing all six meetings in the past 10 years.

Junior forward Derick Nelson is leading the Golden Grizzlies in scoring (18.8 points per game) and rebounding (9.0 per game).

Oakland's home 92-77 loss to Duquesne on Tuesday ended a two-game winning streak. The Golden Grizzlies are averaging 24.3 offensive rebounds per game. Michigan State is coming off a 68-63 loss to co-No. 1 UCLA in the championship game of the CBE Classic.

The game against Oakland begins a three-game homestand for the Spartans.
