Wisconsin, Duke meet for first time ever in ACC/Big Ten Challenge
Nov 27, 2007 - 3:11 PM No. 20 Wisconsin (5-0) at No. 7 Duke (6-0) 9:00 pm ESTDURHAM, North Carolina (Ticker) - No. 20 Wisconsin will travel to play seventh-ranked Duke for the two schools' first-ever meeting as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Tuesday.
The contest will also be a test for the Badgers defensively as they go against the high-powered Blue Devils.
Wisconsin, which is off to its best start since 1996-97 when it began 6-0, has held its opponents to just 45.6 points per game. The Badgers have not allowed more than 55 points in any of their games this season, while holding the opposition to just 34 percent shooting.
However, Duke has not scored less than 77 points in its six victories to start the season, averaging 87.3 points.
The Blue Devils' balanced attack is led by freshman Kyle Singler, who is scoring 14.3 points per game. Taylor King scored a career-high 27 points off the bench in Sunday's 78-43 victory over Eastern Kentucky.
The Badgers are led by sophomore Trevon Hughes, who is scoring 19.4 points per game and had 18 in Wisconsin's 68-49 victory over Georgia on Saturday. Senior Brian Butch is averaging 14.4 points and 10.2 rebounds.
It will be the first road game of the season for Wisconsin, which is 3-5 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge - including 0-4 on the road.
The Blue Devils, who won the Maui Invitational tournament last Wednesday, have an 8-0 record in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
