Ranked for the first time this season, Xavier takes on Oakland

Nov 28, 2007 - 2:38 PM Oakland (2-3) at No. 25 Xavier (4-1) 7:00 pm EST

CINCINNATI (Ticker) - In the rankings for the first time this season, No. 25 Xavier will hope to avoid any letdown when it hosts Oakland on Wednesday.

The Musketeers are coming off an 80-65 victory over then-No. 8 Indiana to capture the Chicago Invitational Challenge title last Wednesday.

Xavier has six players that average at least 9.4 points but none are scoring more than 13.6 per contest.

C.J. Anderson and B.J. Raymond are each averaging 13.6 points for the Musketeers, who are shooting just under 50 percent as a team.

Derick Nelson leads the Grizzlies in scoring and rebounding, posting 18.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Brandon Cassise is second on the team, netting 17.8 points per game.

Oakland has lost its last two games, but remained close in a 75-71 setback to No. 13 Michigan State on Saturday.

The Musketeers have won 10 straight home games and are 2-0 all-time against the Grizzlies.
