Texas looks to go 6-0 against in-state rival Texas Southern

Nov 28, 2007 - 2:48 PM Texas Southern (1-4) at No. 8 Texas (5-0) 8:00 pm EST

AUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) - A.J. Abrams and D.J. Augustin have helped Texas fans get over losing Kevin Durant.

The duo will look to help Texas go 6-0 for the second time in three seasons when the eighth-ranked Longhorns take on Texas Southern on Wednesday.

Abrams has averaged 22.8 points, while Augustin is averaging 17.0 points and 7.8 assists.

Texas has won its first five games by 26.8 points - and is coming off a 97-79 drubbing of then-No. 7 Tennessee in the Legends Classic on Saturday.

A blowout is a strong possibility again on Wednesday as the Tigers come in on a four-game losing streak, including an 83-35 thrashing at Kentucky on Saturday.

Texas Southern - out of the Southwest Athletic Conference - is led by Sollie Norwood, who is averaging 16.8 points and 5.4 rebounds.

The Longhorns coasted to a 90-50 win over Texas Southern last season in Austin.
