Texas A&M host Alabama, look to go 7-0 for second straight season

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) - Less than a week after claiming the NIT Season Tip-Off championship, No. 9 Texas A&M returns home to take on Alabama on Wednesday.

The Aggies defeated Washington in the semifinals and dismantled Ohio State, 70-47, on Friday at Madison Square Garden to claim the title.

Texas A&M, which is looking to begin the season 7-0 for the second straight season, is led by junior Josh Carter, who is scoring 13.0 points per game. Freshman center DeAndre Jordan is averaging 10.3 points and 8.3 rebounds, and will have his hands full with Alabama's Richard Hendrix.

The burly 6-8 junior forward has recorded a double-double in all four games for the Crimson Tide this season, averaging 23.8 points and 14.5 rebounds. Hendrix has scored 20 or more points in every contest thus far, including an effort in which he collected 22 points and 23 rebounds in the season opener against Troy on November 9.

Alonzo Gee and Mykal Riley also are scoring in double figures, averaging 15.0 and 13.0 points, respectively, on the Alabama perimeter.

The Crimson Tide bounced back from their first loss of the season to Belmont with a 79-77 victory over Southern Mississippi on Friday.

Alabama leads the series, 6-1. The Aggies posted a 65-58 win in the most recent meeting in 1998.
