Gonzaga visits Saint Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) - After six games out West, No. 19 Gonzaga heads East to face Saint Joseph's on Thursday.

Gonzaga is coming a trip to the Great Alaska Shootout, where the Bulldogs posted a 2-1 record and finished third. G onzaga opened with a win over Western Kentucky, then lost to Texas Tech before defeating Virginia Tech.

In the finale against the Hokies, senior forward Abdullahi Kuso posted his third career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Matt Bouldin, who is averaging a team-high 13.3 points, was named to the All-Tournament team after scoring 20 points in the win over Virginia Tech.

Junior guard Jeremy Pargo is the other starter averaging in double figures for the Bulldogs at 11.3 points. Pargo is also averaging a team-high 5.5 assists. Freshman forward Austin Daye, who has played in every game but has yet to crack the starting lineup, leads Gonzaga in scoring at 13.8 points per game.

The Hawks have won two straight, including a 74-63 home victory over Ball State on Tuesday. Senior swingman Pat Calathes scored 19 points, while sophomore guard Darrin Govens and junior forward Ahmad Nivins each scored 15 in the home opener for Saint Joseph's. Nivins and Calathes are two of four returning starters for the Hawks.

The teams have met four times previously, each winning twice.
