Marquette looking to rebound vs. Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Nov 30, 2007 - 3:35 PM Wisconsin Milwaukee (3-3) at No. 14 Marquette (4-1) 8:30 pm EST

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- No. 14 Marquette tries to get back on track against cross-town rival Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Friday.

The Golden Eagles have been off their November 21, when they suffered their first loss of the season, a 77-73 setback to No. 10 Duke in the finals of the EA Sports Maui Invitational.

Marquette began its season with four consecutive wins by at least 11 points.

Against Duke, however, Marquette couldn't overcome its sloppy defense, committing 27 fouls in the contest. Still, the Golden Eagles only trailed by two points with 33 seconds remaining.

"Even though we didn't get what our goal was, it was a fantastic experience for our team," Marquette coach Tom Crean said about playing in Hawaii. "We will come out of here with a much broader and greater perspective of what we are as a basketball team."

After a nine-day layoff, Marquette hopes to not have any problem with a Wisconsin-Milwaukee team that enters the game having lost back-to-back games against Drake and Sam Houston State.

The Panthers qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2005 as a 12th seed and upset No. 5 Alabama and No. 4 Boston College before being ousted by top-seeded Illinois in the regional semifinals.
