Michigan State seeking third straight win

Dec 1, 2007 - 3:09 PM Jacksonville (3-2) at No. 13 Michigan St (5-1) 7:00 pm EST

EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) - No. 13 Michigan State goes for its third straight win on Saturday against Jacksonville.

After suffering a narrow 68-63 setback to top-ranked UCLA on November 20, Michigan State has responded with back-to-back wins over Oakland and North Carolina State.

Drew Neitzel combined for 29 points and 12 assists during the victories and is currently second on the team in scoring. Nietzel, one of just two seniors on Michigan State, has been using his experience to help lead his team to victory - often starting along side a freshman, a sophomore and two juniors.

Sophomore Raymar Morgan leads the team in scoring, averaging 17.0 points and just over eight rebounds. Morgan looks to be coming into his own after averaging just 11.7 points per game last season.

After three consecutive wins to open the season, Jacksonville tries to snap a two-game slide against the Spartans.

Ben Smith, who leads the Dolphins with 17.0 points per game, is looking to rebound from perhaps his worst two games this season - including his second straight 13 point effort against Georgia State on Wednesday when the sophomore guard made just 2-of-13 shots from the field.
