Texas-San Antonio fires basketball coach Brooks Thompson
Mar 10, 2016 - 10:58 PM SAN ANTONIO (AP) The University of Texas at San Antonio has fired basketball coach Brooks Thompson after 10 seasons.UTSA athletic director Lynn Hickey says he informed Thompson of his decision Thursday morning.
Under Thompson, the Roadrunners compiled a 133-178 record over 10 seasons, including a 5-27 record this season. He led UTSA to the 2011 Southland Conference Tournament championship and a first-round victory over Alabama in the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
The dismissal is effective immediately, and Hickey says a national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
