Kansas looking to remain perfect
Dec 5, 2007 - 2:16 PM Eastern Wash (3-6) at No. 3 Kansas (7-0) 8:00 pm ESTLAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Fourth-ranked Kansas looks to remain unbeaten Wednesday when it hosts Eastern Washington.
Mario Chalmers scored 17 of his 20 points in the second half to lead Kansas to a 59-55 victory over then-No. 24 Southern California on Sunday. The junior guard added seven rebounds and three steals as the Jayhawks picked up their first road win of the season.
Chalmers, who is averaging 13.3 points, has helped pick up the offensive load after leading scorer and assist man Sherron Collins injured his left foot against Missouri-Kansas City on November 12.
Collins, who isn't expected back until January after having surgery on his foot, was averaging 16.0 points and 5.0 assists in two games - including 22 points and six assists in a season-opening rout of Louisiana-Monroe.
Eastern Washington is seeking back-to-back wins for the first time this campaign after posting a 65-54 win over Missouri-Kansas City on Monday. me on Monday.
Kellen Williams scored 15 points in the victory and leads the Eagles with 9.9 points and 7.5 rebounds a game.
