BYU looking to continue strong start
Dec 5, 2007 - 2:22 PM Weber State (2-4) at No. 22 BYU (6-1) 9:30 pm ESTPROVO, Utah (Ticker) -- No. 22 BYU looks to continue its strong start to the season on Wednesday when it hosts intrastate rival Weber State.
Using a 30-6 run that bridged the first and second half, BYU ran away for a 24-point win over Portland on Saturday. Lee Cummard scored 18 points to lead four players in double figures while Ben Murdock contributed a career-high 10 assists.
The win came after a pair of top 10 matchups in which the Cougars fared very well against the nation's best. BYU edged No. 11 Louisville, 78-76, on November 23 in the Las Vegas Invitational before suffering a 10-point loss to No. 1 North Carolina the next day.
BYU has won 34 consecutive home games - the second-longest streak in the nation behind Memphis' 36 straight home wins.
Weber State is trying to rebound from a 78-61 setback to Illinois on Saturday.
The Wildcats committed 21 turnovers in the loss and continued to struggle on the offensive end.
Weber State is averaging just 62.8 points this season and hasn't scored more than 66 in a contest since a season-opening victory over Utah State.
