Reynolds, Villanova welcomes in LSU
Dec 6, 2007 - 2:25 PM LSU (5-2) at No. 21 Villanova (5-1) 9:30 pm ESTVILLANOVA, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- No. 21 Villanova looks to remain perfect at home when it battles Louisiana State on Thursday in the inaugural Pizza Hut Big East-SEC Invitational.
Scottie Reynolds scored 21 points and Corey Fisher added 13 as the Wildcats cruised to an 87-61 triumph over Pennsylvania on Saturday.
It was the third time Reynolds led Villanova in scoring as he became the only player to score in double figures in all six games this season. The 6-2 sophomore guard has reached double digits in 14 straight games dating to last campaign.
Wildcats coach Jay Wright has his team aggressively attacking the glass. Villanova has outrebounded five of its six opponents this season.
LSU is coming off back-to-back dominating outings, including an 88-45 over in-state rial Southern on Friday. Anthony Randolph, Marcus Thornton and Chris Johnson all scored at least 20 points.
Tigers coach John Brady believes his team can compete against the Wildcats, but thinks turnovers and perimeter defense will be keys in this one.
"Their perimeter play and ability to go on a string and make baskets concerns me," Brady said. "Comparing their assist-to-turnover ratio to ours may be the difference in whether we win it or lose it."
