Wisconsin puts long home win streak on line against Marquette

Dec 8, 2007 - 2:43 PM No. 15 Marquette (5-1) at No. 23 Wisconsin (6-1) 6:00 pm EST

MADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) - One of the nation's longest home winning streaks will be on the line Saturday when No. 23 Wisconsin faces No. 15 Marquette.

The Badgers, one game removed from a 82-58 loss at Duke, have won 28 consecutive home games. Under coach Bo Ryan, Wisconsin is 97-5 at the Kohl Center and has won 44 of its last 45 non-conference home games.

Sophomore guard Trevon Hughes leads the Badgers in scoring (16.7) and steals (2.3) per game. Brian Butch, a 6-11 senior, averages 13.4 points and a team-high 9.1 rebounds.

The game represents the end of the Golden Eagles' non-conference road schedule. Marquette hasn't played since November 30, a 100-65 victory over Wisconsin-Milwaukee. That game came on the heels of Marquette's lone loss, 77-73, to Duke.

Junior guard Jerel McNeal leads the Golden Eagles in scoring (16.0) and assists (3.5) per game. Junior guard Dominic Jones averages 14.7 points.

Wisconsin hasn't lost a home game to its in-state rival since 1997. The Badgers lead the all-time series, 62-51.
