Pittsburgh looks to go 10-0 for fifth straight season

Dec 15, 2007 - 2:03 PM Oklahoma St (5-3) at No. 9 Pittsburgh (9-0) 12:00 pm EST

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) - A fast start to the season is nothing new to Pittsburgh. But last week's pair of close games was.

No. 9 Pittsburgh will look to go 10-0 for the fifth consecutive season it hosts Oklahoma State on Saturday.

The Panthers won their first seven games of this campaign by an average of 30.3 points before sweating out two games last week. Pittsburgh won by five points at Duquesne on December 5 before winning, 75-74, at Washington on December 8 after Justin Dentmon's made shot just after the buzzer was ruled no good.

Pittsburgh also has won 26 consecutive non-conference home games at the Petersen Events Center and coach Jamie Dixon is 31-2 in the month of December.

Sam Young leads the Panthers, averaging 18.1 points - up from 7.2 last season - and is second on the team in rebounds at 7.9 per contest.

The Cowboys come into the game, winners of three straight. Freshman James Anderson is averaging 20.6 points to lead the team.

Oklahoma State leads the all-time series 4-3, including a 95-89 double-overtime victory at home last season.
