Marquette opens five-game homestand

Dec 15, 2007 - 2:07 PM Sacramento St (2-7) at No. 13 Marquette (6-1) 2:00 pm EST

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) - No. 13 Marquette opens up a five-game homestand when it hosts Sacramento State on Saturday.

It will be just the second game in the last 15 days for the Golden Eagles, who have won their last two contests, including an 81-76 victory at intrastate rival Wisconsin on December 8.

Junior Dominic James was named the Big East Player of the Week after collecting 20 points and six assists against Wisconsin. The diminutive guard is second on the team averaging 15.4 points, while Jerel McNeal is scoring 15.7 points per game.

The Hornets have lost six of their last seven games, including a 93-66 pounding at Oregon on Tuesday. Sacramento State is 0-3 on the road and have not beaten a Division I school this season.

Junior guard Loren Leath is the only player on the Hornets averaging in double figures, scoring 18.9 points per game, including two straight games of at least 21 points.

This is the first-ever meeting between the teams.
