No. 13 Marquette continues long homestand against IPFW

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) - A season-long five-game homestand continues Monday for No. 13 Marquette against Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne.

The Golden Eagles moved to 4-0 at home on Saturday with a 82-51 victory over Sacramento State. Marquette scored the game's first 14 points and has won three straight since dropping a 77-73 decision to No. 7 Duke.

Junior guard Jerel McNeal averages 15.4 points, junior guard Dominic Jones 14.5 points and sophomore forward Lazar Hayward 12.5 points for the Golden Eagles.

The Mastodons had a three-game winning streak snapped in their last contest, a 79-57 loss on Saturday against Michigan State in the first of a three-game road trip.

Senior forward Jaraun Burrows leads IPFW offensively and on the boards, averaging 13.3 points and 6.3 rebounds. Freshman guard Ben Botts averages 12.6 points and senior forward DeWitt Scott 11.7 for the Mastodons, coached by Dane Fife. At 28 years old, Fife is the youngest head coach in NCAA Division I basketball.

The teams have played only once before with Marquette winning, 91-57, in the 2004-05 season.
